What does chemical-free really mean?
Chemical-free labels sound great, but they are slightly misleading. Let's get the facts out there--everything, including clean skin care products and the plant-based ingredients, are chemicals. You might even see on the label a chemical looking name and in parentheses next to it the commonly used name (like butanoic acid = coconut oil).
Preservatives are important
Natural products may especially need some type of preservative. If not, microbes (bacteria, fungi, mold, etc.) can grow to unhealthy levels and make a product spoil, even if you can’t see or smell it. This is particularly the case with products that contain or come into contact with water or that are put close to our eyes.
Peels are clean skin care
Though often time people see the word “chemical” in connection with skin peels, there is no need to be alarmed. The main ingredient in Ellen Lange Retexturizing Peel, glycolic acid, is derived from something most of us eat every day—sugar cane.
