The "Prime" Beauty Blogger

Cindy is the Editor in Chief of Prime Beauty, a beauty blog for mature women. She shares her beauty secrets and advices women how to look their best, during the most enjoyable years of their lives!

An ex-model and self-professed makeup junkie, Cindy approaches aging with a witty, tongue-in-cheek attitude. She will give you the straight skinny on which products are worth your hard earned cash and which to skip, as well as what's hype and what's fact.

Shopping is her cardio and her gym of choice is Nordstrom. If you don't see Cindy at the beauty counter searching for the perfect shade of coral lipstick, then she is likely roaming the hills and valleys of the Pacific Northwest searching for the fountain of youth.

Prime Beauty was recently named one of the Top 50 Best Beauty Blogs by IFabbo in 2012, Top Fifty Beauty blogs by The Performance Leader and Konector and landed in the TOP 5 Beauty Blogs for Older Women by Stylelist.

What is your philosophy about your lifestyle?

Oh goodness! At my age I am so much easier going than I use to be. "Don't sweat the small stuff" is the motto I live by. I try to surround myself with positive uplifting people and have fun.

Describe your style?

Probably a mix of modern and trendy. Nothing formal, but classic pieces put together with a fun pop of color or just one fabulous accessory to keep things interesting.

What is the last thing you do before u go to bed?

After my skincare routine, I like to relax with my Kindle in bed to wind down before I go to sleep.

What is the first thing you do when you wake up?

Brush my teeth, wash my face and take vitamins.

How do you maintain a natural look?

During the day, I do prefer a natural look most of the time. I love using neutral eye shadows--beiges, browns, peaches & grays, a peach or pink blush and a medium-toned lipstick.

For evening, I will either go with a smoky eye and use a lighter lipstick or go bold with the lipstick and lighter eye. I'm addicted to mascara so I ALWAYS put 2 or 3 coats on!

What are your own skin concerns and what has helped you?

For the past few years, I have been concerned about minimizing sun damage. I grew up tanning with baby oil and then used tanning beds so I have lots of "freckles" (aka sun spots). There are a few good lightening serums on the market but they take forever to work. The thing I have found most helpful is incorporating a good skincare peel (like the Ellen Lange one) into my regimen once or twice a week and wearing sunscreen EVERY DAY.

What do you use when you wake up in the morning on your face?

Even at my age I still have somewhat of combination skin so sometimes in the morning I may have a shiny forehead, but be dry elsewhere. I really like to use a facial or radiance glycolic pad to freshen up, reduce any excess oil and the acids help with my hyperpigmentation issues too. Then I follow with a good serum and moisturizer.
