Botox, Juvederm & Skin Peels

When it comes to anti-aging solutions, there are a number of go-to products that can help reduce wrinkles, lines, tones, and texture.

Visit the medi-spa and you might be talked into some Botox and Juvederm, along with some skin peels.   A bit pricey and even scary for most of us, but lets break it down a bit.

What are the benefits of skin peels?

A skin peel gently exfoliates the top layers of skin from your face. When old layers are removed, wrinkles and fine lines become less pronounced and less noticeable. A skin peel will also get rid of rough, dry dead skin, help get rid of acne including blackheads, boost your bodies natural production of collagen, reduce the look of hyperpigmentation, and even out skin tone.

What does Botox do for wrinkles?

Unlike skin peels which gently sluff to top layers of skin, Botox is a filler made from purified proteins. It temporarily relaxes facial muscles that cause “dynamic” wrinkles—wrinkles that occur when those muscles are at work (like smiling/crows feet, and frowning/frown lines. It also includes furrowed forehead wrinkles and smokers lines).

How is Juvederm different than Botox?

Juvederm is also a filler but it is used to help out different kinds of wrinkles. It adds volumes to areas that show lines when your face is at rest (such as lines from your nose to your mouth or under your mouth). These lines might be caused by age or genetic makeup.

If I’m already having Botox and/or Juvederm injections, do I need to do a peel?

Peels can be a very important part of any facial care regimen whether you have injectables or not. But used together with skin peels they can make a remarkable multi-faceted attack on lines and wrinkles. The goal is to have great tone and texture to your skin which peels can help enhance in conjunction with your other beauty treatments.

Can I afford to add skin peels to my beauty routine?

You sure can! At-home skin peels are highly affordable, easy to use, and convenient-even more so than injectable treatments.

There may not be a magical anti-aging elixir (although we’re still hoping they invent one!) but that doesn’t mean there is nothing that can be done. Making simple at home peels part of your skin care routine can leave your face looking fresher and more youthful whether your face is in motion (smiles!) or at rest.
